불펜의 부진이 결국 석패로 이어진 LG는 최원태(9승 6패 4.31)를 내세워 반격에 나선다. 24일 한화와 홈 경기에서 7이닝 1실점의 호투로 승리를 거둔 최원태는 2주일간의 조정이 좋은 혀과로 돌아온바 있다. 게다가 금년 두산 상대로 상당히 좋은 투구를 해내고 있다는 것도 이번 경기에서의 기대치를 높여줄수 있는 부분일듯. 전날 경기에서 최원준과 김강률 상대로 3점을 득점하는데 그친 LG의 타선은 한번 가라앉은 화력이 올라오지 않는 문제를 드러내고 있는 중이다. 특히 좌타자 군단이 최원준 상대로 4안타에 그쳤다는건 반성해야 할 부분. 마지막을 버티지 못한 불펜은 이제 가을 야구에서 9회에 누굴 올려야 할지 고민해야 한다.
LG 입장에선 전날 경기의 패배는 충격이 남을수밖에 없다. 다른 투수도 아닌 조수행에게 끝내기 안타를 허용하고 패배를 당했기 때문. 그러나 김동주는 최원준보다 현재의 LG 타선이 조금 더 공략을 해볼 여지가 많은 투수고 반등을 해낸 최원태라면 안정된 투구를 기대할 여지가 많을 것이다. 선발에서 앞선 LG가 승리에 가까이 있다.
